How To Enable SSH Access From WHM

Here is quick tipes for cPanel/WHM

Note: These are not necessarily the best way but it is what we found works best for us.

SSH access can only be granted to the primary cPanel username for an account. Most default packages have SSH or Shell Access by default, but you may want to manage it manually.

From the WHM upper left search bar type in “Manage Shell” and it will come up with the link to “Manage Shell Access” which you can click to open up.

Find the domain name in the list and you can see whether it is enabled or disabled at the moment. You will want to click on “Enable Normal Shell” to add SSH access to that account.

You can also modify the package or create a new package for that account and assign it to the user. That might come in handy if you only have a few accounts or if you want to immediately grant access to all accounts using that package.
